Seventeen trillion dollars in debt and still climbing. Another 100 trillion dollars in promises to American people in the form of Social Security, Medicare, and countless other giveaway programs. Five million Americans under the age of 65 drawing disability. Forty seven million Americans participating in the food stamp program.
All of the above should be front page headlines on every major newspaper in America. Nightly newscasts should be leading with these stories every night. They would be telling the tale of the collapse of the greatest nation in the history of mankind. They would be telling a tale of an entire country mortgaging away their own children’s future for today’s comfort. However, a combination of indifference and liberal bias leaves us with updates of Kim Kardashian and attacks on anyone seeking to bring sanity to the discussion.
How did we get here? The country that liberated Europe twice, overcame the Cold War, and dominated the world’s economy for over 100 years, is in real trouble. The winds of change began first to stir in the aftermath of JFK’s assassination, but the first real clouds on the horizon began in the Catskill mountains outside Bethel New York in 1969. Four hundred thousand concert goers descended on Max Yasgur’s farm and the age of Woodstock arrived.
Our Republic was crafted by our Founding Fathers around the notion of an educated electorate rooted in Judeo Christian principles. They recognized that the road to prosperity would be paved with honesty, hard work, education and care for your fellow man. No matter what your religious beliefs, morals guide and unify a society, allowing progress to occur.
Now two generations have been born since Woodstock and a storm of the century approaches. Families have been ripped apart by a society that knows no boundaries of decency. Children are being raised by single moms and daycare centers. Our schools no longer teach the importance of self-reliance, decency and the importance of our nation’s past. Honesty and hard work are ignored or ridiculed. The obscene and the absurd are held up as shining examples by the nation’s media.
The result is a steadily shrinking base of self-reliant Americans in a sea of those looking for a handout. Greedy politicians on both sides promise ever larger handouts in exchange for another term in office. Without a moral backbone, our country is being torn apart at the top by greedy executives and at the bottom by those too lazy to work. The American people are choosing sides like never before. The teams have been decided. No longer are our politicians judged on performance, they are now judged on their contribution to their team. It is foolish to think that people living off the government will ever vote against the expansion of it.
If you Google “How many federal laws are there”, you will find there is no credible answer. The number is too large to count. In 1982 the Justice Department undertook a two year study and came to the conclusion that the laws were so numerous and in so many areas they could not be reliably counted. Thirty years later the growth continues. Our government is exploding in an effort to manage a society full of people that mom and dad did not raise.
Alexis de Tocqueville was a French author and political thinker who’s most famous work was in study of the new American experiment in democracy in the mid 1800s. The quote below was a prescient prediction of America circa 2013.
“When the taste for physical gratifications among them has grown more rapidly than their education . . . the time will come when men are carried away and lose all self-restraint . . . . It is not necessary to do violence to such a people in order to strip them of the rights they enjoy; they themselves willingly loosen their hold. . . . they neglect their chief business which is to remain their own masters.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America Volume 2
Any honest evaluation of the facts will lead an intelligent person to realize that we are on a path to an economical and societal collapse. Is it too late to turn from this path? Other great empires that followed this path collapsed in ruin. History will tell and I fear it won’t be long before we find out.

The picture above compares rolling stone magazine covers. The one on top features the Boston bomber Dzokhar Tsarnaev. The other features the music group the Jonas Brothers. Rolling Stone Magazine is glorifying a terrorist in the same way we admire pop music sensations. Moral lines that were once stark (murder) are becoming gray. Can we not agree terrorists and murders should not be glamourized on one of the most popular magazines in the nation who’s purpose is to increase fame? All joking aside, what does this say about the decency of America today?

This youtube video by Colion Noir sums up most of my feelings concerning the current gun control debate.
The only thing I would ad can be found over at Red State where Erick Erickson’s article on the purpose of the second amendment brings to the forefront a very politically incorrect thought. Erickson writes:
“You may think a 30 round magazine is too big. Under the real purpose of the second amendment, a 30 round magazine might be too small.”
During this debate it has become clear that politicians and government bureaucrats only care about how their “life bettering” ideas are perceived. They care nothing about reality, only how their decisions will affect the American psyche. If you feel manipulated then pat yourself on the back for rising above all the lies.
I have come to the conclusion I could write a very dense book on the above hypothesis. The government ignores reality and only cares about how their actions are perceived. Has anyone on the left stopped to think the only result from their attempt to weaken our second amendment right will be more of the very thing they believe is the cause of evil human actions. Yesterday after the President issued his executive orders gun stocks soared. Why? If most are correct and congress does not have the votes to pass new gun laws, then the only thing Barack Obama accomplished yesterday was to put another 10 million guns on the street and the left doesn’t seem to care. Why? Because it is not about what is practical, it is about manipulating the average American’s opinion to think the government can actually solve the problem of gun violence regardless of the liberty it will cost. Think about it. What issue facing the country today does not apply to this theory. Whether it’s taxing millionaires to solve our national debt, or a logical plan to solve illegal immigration, or ending welfare and voter fraud. The list could go on. It is always about perception not reality.
